POLITICS

It’s Thanksgiving Eve and this year I have so many things to be thankful for; one of them is the publishing of Politiquette and the support of this young blog by so many people around DC.

Thanksgiving is a great time to begin to pull out your festive holiday wear.  Holidays allow for a little more sparkle, shine and boldness to all outfits.

I discovered this skirt from the J. Crew Collection line at a J.Crew event I attended in October.  One of the employees had obtained it prior to availability and I stalked their website until I could get my hands on this item too.  The photos don’t do it justice, it sparkles just the right amount and the jacquard texture of the fabric is so well made and gorgeous.  I think this skirt is perfect to wear for a Thanksgiving celebration.

ETIQUETTE

Thanksgiving attire can range from jeans, a cozy sweater and nice boots to an outfit like the one I have featured today.  Regardless of the components of an outfit, this holiday is an opportunity to embrace fall colors and warm hues.  Immediately following Thanksgiving is when winter will invade collective mentality and black and dark colors will tend to be all you want to wear and all you will see others wearing for at least a few months…

A few other ideas about occasions to wear this skirt.  This skirt can be worn to work or out at night.  If you muted the shoes and substituted them with  gray suede heels or booties, it would be perfect for work.  You could also make it even dressier and wear a silver camisole and a light colored furry or bomber jacket.
