Ron David Edwards, based in Washington DC, is the Owner and Creative Director of RON DAVID, launched in 2015.  Inspired by the runway persuasions of the world, and specially curated for the conservative fashionista, RON DAVID offers a special retail experience that will provide one of a kind, statement pieces that will enhance every wardrobe.

A graduate of Howard University, Ron spent several years within the fashion industry primarily as a senior luxury retail buyer, celebrity stylist and personal shopper.  Ron realized that there are many women desiring the experience of having unique, special items of clothing, but who aren’t in a position to do so in the same market.  He saw an opportunity to provide runway inspired clothing, with exclusivity, but at an attainable price.

RON DAVID’s collection is very diverse.  There are pieces in all sizes that most women can wear.  He has limited numbers of these items so that you won’t see the same thing everywhere being worn by everyone.  In addition to a very affordable price point, I think women in DC are going to really like the style of his clothing.  He has items that are work appropriate, casual, and that can be worn to fancy events.  His collection is very interesting and extremely fashionable.  I am thrilled for the RON DAVID debut!

I discovered RON DAVID the day before I launched Politiquette.  He had a temporary pop-up shop in Union Market.  I was so nervous about launching my own site and came across his beautiful designs learning that he too was just launching a new business and brand.  Somehow it seemed like the stars aligned in that moment, it was a good reminder that I needed to be confident and put myself put there, just look at what RON DAVID created.  It also made me think that we would need to collaborate, the timing was just to serendipitous.

I feel very lucky that Ron allowed me to style his clothing for his marketing purposes.  I had so much fun dressing up in his gorgeous designs and interpreting how they can be worn, especially for life in DC.   What is great about these looks is that I literally would be able to attend any type of event wearing one of his designs.  That is a really special attribute of his collection.

LAB 1270

#Lab1270 is a new retail and creative space at Union Market that houses multiple retailers, including RON DAVID.  Many of the stores in this innovative space are DC based and offer unique apparel, decor and food.  Lab 1270 just opened this past week on November 14.  I highly recommend you make a point to check it out.

Some of you may be familiar with this location from J.D. Ireland’s pop-up shop earlier this year.

Zadig & Voltaire, Gucci, Hogan – Dock 5 – 11.13.2015

Cardigan by Zadig & Voltaire

Zadig & Voltaire is an extremely edgy brand out of France.  DC is lucky to have one of their few freestanding locations downtown at City Center.  I think a lot of people are intimidated by the cool factor displayed in the windows, but if you actually go into the store you will find that the clothing is quite approachable.  Zadig & Voltaire has many luxurious basics, including this cashmere cardigan that I am featuring today.  I happened to pop into Zadig & Voltaire yesterday and they mentioned to me that they are having a sale on all cashmere through the weekend; so now is a good time to go in and take a look at their clothing.

Politiquette Style – Anchyi Wei – 11.11.2015

Anchyi Wei Politiquette

Last night I had the privilege of attending a very special event to celebrate the new book by Andre Leon Talley, Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style, at the Freer Sackler Gallery.  The event began at 6:30 PM on what turned out to be an evening filled with post-work traffic and rain.  Despite the timing of the event and other elements that could have created obstacles, everyone in attendance looked fabulous and was in great spirits excited to hear from the legendary Andre Leon Talley.

While waiting for the conversation to begin, one of my favorite DC fashionistas arrived looking stunning and dressed perfectly for the glamorous occasion.  Dressed in all white, again it was raining, Anchyi Wei wore a beautiful lace Oscar de la Renta top that is a vintage sample and flowy white pants.

Proenza Schouler – Satellite Room – 11.09.2015

Proenza Schouler Politiquette x Jessi Mitrovich

by Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler was founded in 2002 by Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough.  The designers met at Parson’s School of Design and named their collection for both of their mother’s maiden names.   In 2008, Proenza Schouler launched its first handbag collection, including the PS1 satchel, which I am featuring today.  This handbag has become their signature bag, they refer to it as “wearable luxury.”

Proenza Schouler bags I love:

Designers to Know – November 2015

One of my priorities with Politiquette is to ensure that I regularly highlight new or less known designers that you will want to be familiar with.  It’s exciting how many designers are having success these days thanks to social media and the internet.  With so much success, it is definitely a challenge to stay on top of knowing who all of these great designers are.  I hope this feature will help you with some of your fashion sifting.

Today I am highlighting five of my favorite designers that I have recently come across.  Some of these designers have already been featured on Politiquette and others are designers I plan to feature in the future.
